Suttons Bay is a 30 minute drive from Traverse City. The closest airport, Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) in Traverse City, is about a 10 minute drive to the general downtown area of Traverse City. Grand Rapids Airport (GRR) is a 2-hour drive from the Traverse City area, and Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) is a 4 hour drive.

Getting There

Hotels in Northern Michigan book up fast in the autumn months, and you will want to book your accommodations early. We suggest that our guests stay in the general Traverse City area. For those who enjoy a more urban vibe we recommend The Delamar Hotel and Hotel Indigo, both of which sit right on Grand Traverse Bay and are within walking distance to restaurants, shops and more. However, there are many other hotels in downtown Traverse City should you wish to look into these.&nbsp; Houses can be rented in Traverse City or the Leelanau Peninsula, and for a more rustic feel, there are hotels in Suttons Bay!! The area has so much to offer from great wineries to farmers markets, amazing beaches and cute art shops.

Hotel Indigo Traverse City by IHG

Cars can be rented at the Traverse City airport, but ubers and taxis are sparsely available in Northern Michigan. Cars, of course, can be rented at the Grand Rapids airport or Detroit Metro airport. The Delamar Hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the Traverse City airport. The Indigo Hotel does not provide airport shuttle service. On wedding day, shuttles to the wedding venue will leave from the Delamar Hotel for their guests and anyone staying elsewhere, and The Indigo Hotel for guests of that hotel.

Farm Club - A cool eatery focusing on in-season and local produce .. most of which is grown on-site in their gardens. They offer local beers and wines, too. Great outdoor spaces! Mundos Coffee - The best in Traverse City! Rooftop at the Indigo Hotel - A rooftop bar with the best view of Grand Traverse Bay. Little Fleet - A super fun ‘locals spot’ that features multiple food trucks of varying cuisines. Modern Bird - Fantastic eatery and a James Beard Award Winner.

Suttons Bay

Mawby Winery - Sparkling lovers unite!! This winery does sparkling wines RIGHT. Our favorites are ‘Us’, ‘Sex’ and ‘Detroit’. Hop Lot - A fun and casual restaurant with tons of outdoor space. Martha’s Leelanau Table - A fabulous restaurant that sources ingredients locally. Great wine list and cute outdoor space. Blustone Winery - Another great winery. A favorite is Ad Lib - a nice red table wine. 9 Bean Rows - A fantastic spot for local produce, phenomenal baked goods, woodfired pizzas and more. Casual and fun Northern Michigan spot.

Leland / Lake Leelanau

Fishtown - This is a historic area within Leland. Buzzing with neat stores, a candy store and a fantastic sandwich shop along the river leading to Lake Michigan. Trust us when we say this is a must if you are staying in town for awhile! Aurora Cellars - Northern Michigan makes some fantastic wines! Aurora Cellars in Lake Leelanau is one of the best. Verterra Tasting Room - Located on the main strip in Leland, Verterra’s tasting room is a great spot to taste and then buy a few bottles of wine. Their wine is very good. Riverside Inn - A gorgeous restaurant and Inn on the river. Their food is farm to table and is excellent!

Glen Arbor

The Mill - The Mill is a cozy café alongside the Crystal River in Glen Arbor. Their baked goods, coffee, and lunch items are delicious! They also have a fantastic upscale dining spot called Supper at The Mill, located underneath the café. Cherry Republic - This is a fun little touristy spot for Cherry everything. A restaurant, coffee shop, ice cream shop and plenty of cherry items to purchase before heading home! Sleeping Bear Dunes - This is a must! Take a hike up the famous dunes to find some of the best views in Michigan. Bring a water bottle and lots of time! Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive - If you’re looking to take in the beautiful scenery of Glen Arbor, this is a must-see. They have incredible lookouts overlooking Glen Lake, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Lake Michigan.
